Every year, Caterer & Hotelkeeper presents an Acorn Award for 30 members of our industry aged under 30, who are considered to be stars of today and leaders of tomorrow, professionals who go beyond the call of duty in their every day roles. We are so proud that Lisa has been selected for a 2007 Acorn Award, these awards have now been running for twenty one years and interestingly Craig Bancroft was one of the first ever winners of an Acorn Award, some might say, he has now grown into a grand Oak tree!

Lisa has had a busy month, she travelled to London on 2nd April as one of the six finalists of the Roux Scholarship, undoubtedly considered the ultimate British competition for chefs. Having successfully made it through the regional finals, Lisa was invited to the final at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park for an intensive competition day with five other regional finalists. Lisa was handed a recipe, allowed 30 minutes to understand how you will tackle the dish, followed by a 2 hour cook off against the other finalists. The dish – Escoffier classic – Tournedos Rachel served with Artichoke and Asparagus – accompanied by Michel Roux’s own version of Bordelaise Sauce and the chef’s own interpretation of a macaroni soufflé. Unfortunately on this occasion Lisa was not the winner, but again we are proud of her achievement in reaching this final, and on the day she was a true ambassador for Northcote Manor and Young chefs of our region. |
