1. Obsession – Northcote’s Festival of Food & Wine 2006

We are all very excited, and as always becoming obsessed about our Festival of Food & wine which starts today!

The menus are now all confirmed, food ordered from all our revered local suppliers to exotic producers from far away shores, the wines have been matched, the staff are focused and ready for seven days and nights of intense activity.

We look forward to welcoming those of you who are attending one of the guest chef evenings.

2. Michelin Star successfully retained for the tenth year!!

January is the month Michelin unveil it’s new red guide for Great Britain and Ireland and we are delighted to have retained our star for the tenth year running. 2005 was an exciting year for Michelin with the launch of their New York City Guide. This year the guide enters a two star restaurant in Scotland for Nigel’s friend Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, who we keep tempting to join us at Northcote’s festival. One town on the culinary rise is Torquay which for 2006 has two new one-star restaurants, the first in the town’s history: The Elephant, and Orestone Manor.

In London, the awards of one star to Amaya, Rasi Vineet Bhatia, Nobu Berkeley, Maze and The Ledbury - this further illustrates the rich diversity of the London restaurant scene. Congratulations to another great friend – Phil Howard for the opening of his second restaurant – The Ledbury and the reward of it's first star. We look forward to Phil joining us at the festival this week.

The Michelin Guide is the reference for business and leisure travelers and this year features 5,135 entries including 3420 hotels and guesthouses and 1715 restaurants and pubs. Offering the reader exceptional value for money, no other guide includes as many places to eat and stay – all rigorously checked by Michelin’s team of professional inspectors.

Michelin welcome customer feedback and will make a point of replying to all correspondence received, this information enables Michelin to track the development of restaurants and we thank those of you who have taken the time and trouble to write and give your support.
