The UK’s top chefs have cooked for the Queen and convinced the French that we can match them with gastronomic prowess. In the series for 2008 they’re out to prove the world that we are up there with the best when it comes to modern British cuisine.
Nigel and his fellow compatriots have competed for the opportunity to cook a fantastic four-course dinner to be held in June 2008 at the restaurant at the top of the iconic Gherkin building in London, hosted by no other than Heston Blumenthal.
Sourcing the best ingredients from their local area, the chefs are creating a starter, fish, meat course and dessert that they believe truly epitomises the very best of contemporary, cutting edge British cooking.

Nigel's Great British Menu creates a North-South divide
Nigel Haworth won through his round of BBC2’s Great British Menu to earn a place in the televised finals later this month.
Triumphing over friend and fellow chef, Anthony Flinn, Nigel will be flying the flag for the North when some of the UK’s top talents fight it out for the honour of cooking at a star-studded evening at London’s iconic Gherkin building. Hosted by Heston Blumenthal, guests include some of the world’s leading chefs. It’s the culmination of this year’s competition...and a major feather in the gastronomic cap of the winner.
