EL BULLI, Barcelona, SpainEl Buli is widely regarded as the finest restaurant in the world and tables at El Bulli have become the most sought after in Europe. A visit to El Bulli requires a willingness to suspend the reality that eating is a basic fundamental of life, something that we do in order to survive. There is little about a meal here that bears any relationship to notions of eating for living. It's an experience that will give you sensual and intellectual pleasure. Ferran claimed as the most imaginative cook in history creates dramatic and powerful menus, each year he offers his patrons a brand new menu which he has created and invented in his secret laboratory during the six months the restaurant is closed. Getting to El Bulli isn't easy, approximately 2 hours outside of Barcelona, most people approach from the direction of barcelona, which is about 160 kilometres to the south. If you want to stay nearer, Hostal De La Gavina is highly recommended. You should also allow time to visit the Museu Dalí in nearby Figuerers. Of all painters, Dalí is the one who springs to mind when you eat Ferran Adriá's food and it's probably no coincidence that he was born nearby. |
