Leading Northern chef Nigel Haworth’s new pub has been voted as having the best children’s menu in Britain.
The Three Fishes in Mitton, Lancashire, which was opened by the Northcote Manor chef in September, has won a Camra competition to find the best children’s menu offering healthy, fresh, seasonal and regional produce.
Pubs were nominated for the competition by licensees or their customers. The pub which has been given a £500k investment by Ribble Valley Inns an associate company of Northcote Manor, won the category for the best use of seasonal or regional produce.
Dishes on the children’s menu included Free Range Gloucester Old Spot Sausages, mashed potatoes and onion gravy and deep fried haddock, marrowfat peas, real chips and tartare sauce and buttered crumpet with Lancashire curd. All children’s main courses are £5.00 and desserts £3.50
Georgina Howarth, marketing officer for Camra, said, “ We hope that licensees can look at ways in which these winning pubs have scaled down their adult menus, or simply renamed their food, which encourages children to think differently about what they are eating and enjoy visiting the pubs with the rest of the family".
